Equality, Diversity and Accessibility to Counselling Courses
Northamptonshire Centre for Counselling Studies (NCCS) is committed to equality and fairness. All associated with the Centre (staff and students) are obligated to treat everyone with fairness and respect.
Every working as a counsellor every single session will involve working with some form of difference and diversity. Every single session.
Therefore, as a counselling training provider, we firmly believe that those training to be counsellors should also represent difference and diversity. One of our core values is to try to ensure accessibility to all of our courses and we work extremely hard to make reasonable adjustments where needed. We see this as so important that we consistently seek advice from a Government Official who works for the Government Equalities Office to ensure that we are always complying with Equality Law and providing everything that we can to make our courses accessible.
It should be noted that we have underlined the word ‘reasonable’ above. We are a small, intimate, private training centre and not a large college or university and so we may be unable to provide some of the adjustments that may be offered by the larger centres such as specialist support or equipment, regular 1-2-1 support, student loans etc. However, we do try our very best to reasonably accommodate and provide what is needed for students to access our courses.
At every stage of your journey through your counselling training at NCCS, we strive to ensure that each individual student’s needs are met where we are reasonably able to.
NCCS is also opposed to any act of discrimination and prejudice on irrelevant grounds at all times. Discrimination or harassment will not be tolerated because of:
- Gender reassignment
- Marital status
- Race
- Religion or Belief
- Sex
- Sexual Orientation
We will not accept prejudice because of:
- Age
- Disability
- Pregnancy or maternity
The Centre will confront any such behaviour whenever and wherever it occurs. Any breach of this policy will be tackled and dealt with. Enforcement of this policy is the responsibility of all who attend the Centre.
